Or that the heartbreak suffered at the end of the relationship is inherently more painful and damaging than in a relationship where equality reigns.
ThanksBuy Cialishttp://www.safemeds.com/generic-cialis.htmnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36212542.post-69304282901641464472010-12-03T21:32:11.419-05:002010-12-03T21:32:11.419-05:00When it comes to the luxury accessories, fashion L...When it comes to the luxury accessories, fashion Louis Vuitton first comes up with my brain. It is high time we farewelled the cold winter and welcomed spring with full arms. Both articles stem from a letter sent to LSU's general counsel by Pokey's lawyer. The first article (published yesterday) includes a link to the letter itself. While many "big" questions about the situation remain unanswered, the letter does contain some interesting implications. I won't expound on them here, but instead offer a link to Tuesday's article which is in turn linked to the letter:

As a side note: I have heard since my last post that the WBCA has a non-fraternization policy, but have been unable to find it anywhere. Carol Anne, if you're still reading this, can you direct me to the policy?tiger321https://www.blogger.com/profile/09129388532316673449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36212542.post-41070181636650703622007-03-18T04:55:00.000-05:002007-03-18T04:55:00.000-05:00Not former "player", former players. They were current players under her tutelage. This was obvisously a pattern with this coach. If it had truly been one tryst, I don't think it would have been blown into such a media frenzy. I am amused that the former player is deciding to hide behind a cloak of anonymity. What retribution, if any, is there for her to openly support her former coach? Something doesn't seem right there. Do you really think the press would have been more lenient had it been a male coach sleeping with his female players?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36212542.post-37100567085382371952007-03-15T22:00:00.000-05:002007-03-15T22:00:00.000-05:00I blogged on this a while back after also contacti...I blogged on this a while back after also contacting someone I know familiar with goings on at LSU. My opinion has not really changed since then.

Fraternization with a former player--not the best thing--but if there were no rules against it should not have caused a necessary resignation at all--as you say--I know professors who have married and lived with former students.

The real problem as I see it is the implicit denial there are lesbians in women's basketball--which, is of course absurd, and the "don't ask don't tell policy" at the colleges.

It was an "open secret" that Chatman was lez oriented--and you don't need a real sensitive gaydar to get that impression.

If she had been able to live openly it seems to me likely this problem never would have developed. She could have expanded her social network beyond the small basketball community.

But, what this is all doing is flaming the stereotype of the lesbian predator. I am pretty sure the former player was already oriented that way. And, of course, the basketball players are in no more inherent danger from Chatman than the male assistant coach.

But, there is the (usually) unspoken fear that innoncent girls are being molested and converted into homosexuals by the lesbian coach. And a number of families then have even more fears about their daughters participating.

It is right that the college make a distinction between gender orientation and sexual misconduct. But, it is equally important that they be upfront all gender orientaion and that the old fearful myths be dissipated. In this case they are just being perpetuated.

~BeckyBecky C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06415067599794969890noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36212542.post-30565670810558788562007-03-14T22:21:00.000-05:002007-03-14T22:21:00.000-05:00I think it is wise to allow consenting adults to m...I think it is wise to allow consenting adults to make their own choices regarding who they choose to be sexually involved with.

One of my favorite quotes:
"The brain may take advice, but not the heart, and love, having no geography, knows no boundaries; weight and sink it deep, no matter, it will rise and find the surface: and why not? any love is natural and beautiful that is within a person's nature; only hypocrites would hold a man responsible for what he loves, emotional illiterates and those of righteous envy who, in their agitated concern mistake so frequently the arrow pointing to heaven for the one that leads to hell."
Truman Capote Other Voices Other RoomsMary Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01631594203558208360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36212542.post-82993089892172886172007-03-14T18:28:00.000-05:002007-03-14T18:28:00.000-05:00The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (to whi...The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (to which Pokey belongs) does have a ethics policy forbidding personal and social fraternization between coaches and players.

I think that's wise.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
